The Role
As a Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily transport and logistics operations, ensuring efficient route planning, driver management, and full compliance with UK transport regulations.
You will play a key role in maintaining high service standards, improving operational performance, and supporting the company’s long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate daily transport operations and delivery schedules
Plan efficient routes to reduce costs and improve service levels
Supervise drivers and transport staff, including rotas and performance monitoring
Ensure compliance with DVSA, Traffic Commissioner, and health & safety regulations
Oversee vehicle maintenance, inspections, and legal documentation
Monitor driver hours, tachographs, and transport records
Resolve operational issues, delays, and customer queries
Control fuel usage and operational costs
Prepare reports for management
Requirements
Essential:
Proven experience in transport or logistics management
Strong knowledge of UK transport and compliance regulations
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple schedules and deadlines
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable:
CPC qualification in Transport Management
Experience in road haulage or freight operations
Knowledge of tachograph systems and fleet management software
