Finance Officer
Job Description
MARKOVAL LIMITED is seeking to recruit an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our growing team. This is a permanent full-time position that has been created to support the continued growth of the business and to strengthen the Company’s internal financial management function.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the Company’s day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the Director in ensuring the efficient administration of the Company’s finances. The role requires a highly organised individual with excellent numerical skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers.
Process customer invoices, supplier invoices, receipts and business payments.
Reconcile business bank accounts and client accounts on a regular basis.
Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting and financial planning.
Prepare financial reports and management information to support business decision-making.
Monitor outstanding customer invoices and assist with credit control and payment collection.
Support payroll administration and maintain payroll-related records.
Liaise with the Company’s external accountants regarding bookkeeping, VAT, statutory accounts and other financial matters.
Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and UK accounting requirements.
Assist in preparing financial documentation for audits, compliance reviews and regulatory reporting.
Monitor company expenditure and recommend improvements to financial efficiency where appropriate.
Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements and other applicable financial regulations.
Support the Director with financial analysis, forecasting and general business administration.
Assist in implementing and maintaining effective financial controls and internal procedures.
Carry out any other finance-related duties reasonably required to support the Company’s operations.
Essential Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a Finance Officer, Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or similar finance-related role.
Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial administration.
Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
Right to work in the United Kingdom or eligibility to work under the Skilled Worker route.
Desirable Qualifications
AAT qualification or equivalent accounting qualification.
Experience working within an SME environment.
Knowledge of payroll administration and VAT procedures.
Experience preparing management reports and financial reconciliations.
Salary
£41,700 per annum
